Senior Revenue Accountant

As a Senior Revenue Accountant at Axon, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our revenue recognition processes. You will be a key contributor to the finance team, responsible for managing complex revenue streams, interpreting accounting standards, and providing valuable insights to support business decisions. This role demands a strong understanding of revenue accounting principles and the ability to collaborate effectively across various departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the end-to-end revenue accounting cycle, including reviewing contracts, identifying revenue recognition elements, and ensuring accurate and timely recording of revenue in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606).
• Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Axon's products, services, and pricing models to ensure proper revenue recognition.
• Prepare and analyze revenue-related accounts, including deferred revenue, accounts receivable, and unbilled receivables, ensuring accuracy and reconciling discrepancies.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Legal, and other cross-functional teams to review contract terms and provide guidance on revenue recognition implications.
• Assist in the development and implementation of revenue accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practices.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for revenue and related accounts.
• Participate in the month-end and year-end close processes, providing timely and accurate revenue-related information.
• Contribute to internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to revenue.
• Monitor and interpret changes in revenue accounting standards and assess their impact on Axon's accounting practices.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the revenue accounting function.

About You:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting, preferably within the technology or software industry.

Skills Abilities:

• Strong understanding of US GAAP, specifically ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers.
• Proven ability to interpret contract terms and apply revenue recognition principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software/ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Experience with data analysis and reporting tools is a plus.
