What You Will Be Doing

As an A/AI Research Engineer, your responsibilities will encompass leading research efforts, developing and implementing AI/ML algorithms, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate these technologies into our products and processes. Your activities will include:

• Conducting research and development in areas such as machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and robotics.
• Designing, developing, and testing AI/ML models and algorithms to address specific engineering and operational needs.
• Collaborating with software engineers, hardware engineers, and domain experts to integrate AI/ML solutions into existing and new systems.
• Analyzing data, identifying patterns, and developing insights to improve system performance, efficiency, and autonomy.
• Presenting research findings and technical progress to internal teams and stakeholders.
• Staying abreast of the latest advancements in AI/ML and related fields, and evaluating their potential application within Lockheed Martin.
• Contributing to the development of intellectual property through patents and publications.

• MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance. A company-sponsored interim secret is required to start.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field with a focus on Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning.
• Must be able to obtain security clearance.
• Professional experience in conducting research and development in AI/ML.
• A strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and data analysis techniques.
• Proficiency in programming languages relevant to AI/ML development (e.g., Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Candidate must be willing and able to travel as needed.

Desired Skills:

• Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks and techniques.
• Experience with computer vision, natural language processing, or robotics.
• Familiarity with data engineering and data pipelines.
• Experience with deploying AI/ML models in real-world applications.
• Knowledge of software development best practices and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience working on projects within the aerospace or defense industry.

• Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
• Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
• Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
